Stefan Werkstetter received his electrical engineering degree in 2006. From 1999 to 2008 he worked in the telecommunications sector. In 2008 he started working as an extern for BMW´s E/E development department on vehicle evaluation and boardnet pre-development, covering 12V and 48V applications, as well as full-hybrid vehicles. In October 2012, Stefan Werkstetter joined Maxwell Technologies in Germany as applications engineer, responsible for the support of ultracapacitor-based automotive application developments in Europe. In January 2016 he was transferred to Maxwell´s US headquarters in San Diego, California. His current role is senior systems application engineer, automotiveand transportation.

The development focus is on ultracapacitor-based automotive energy storage systems from 12V to HV for key applications like start-stop, active suspension, e-turbo and general boardnet stabilization; technical assessment; system simulation; product development; safety; ageing and lifetime prediction of ultracapacitors; market trends and general role of ultracapacitors in automotive applications.
