Prof. Herzog conducts research in the field of energy-efficient, electromechanical drive systems. His work focuses on the design and optimization of hybrid electric and battery electric drive trains, automated design methods for electromechanical actuators, and energy and power management. He also explores loss mechanisms in magnetically soft materials.
After studying electrical and computer engineering at Technische Universität München (TUM), Prof. Herzog was a research associate at the Chair of Electric Machines and Devices at TUM (Prof. Lorenzen) until the completion of his doctorate. After that, he worked as a development engineer and an assistant manager at Robert Bosch GmbH in Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Gerlingen. Since 2002, Prof. Herzog has been Director of Energy Conversion Technology at TUM. Prof. Herzog is a senior member of IEEE and a member of the VDE and VDI.
